Alfred's Steakhouse sold to Daniel Patterson

Reopening in November with a new format.

From their website:
And, now, after some good debates and long discussions, Daniel Patterson and Al Petri have decided to join forces to re-open Alfred’s. The new Alfred’s Steakhouse will honor the traditions of the luxurious ambience, superb service and excellent food with a new menu that will delight the people and visitors of San Francisco that we love to serve.

Is this the Al Petri who sold the place or his son?

$68 is not bad for a 32-oz. prime bone-in rib steak.

I don’t know but it does sound like a very good deal now. Each steak comes with some kind of appetizer platter for the table, then you can choose a Caeser, prawn cocktail or romaine/bacon salad and two sides, plus one complimentary steak sauce. Says corkage is $20. I hadn’t been back since Patterson took over but plan to check it out again now.

It was great in its last incarnation.

I see a key difference in the menu – the phrase “dry-aged” no longer appears.

They left out the “dry-” but I’m sure that’s what they mean by “aged.”

This is driving me crazy(er). Did they used to be on Broadway before the tunnel? If not, what IS/WAS that place? Please and thanks.

Yes.

Oh whew. Maybe not ANY crazier. And that was probably 30 years ago and it was super IIRC

Open again. Entree prices include appetizer (salumi, cheese, nuts, and olives), a cold starter (Caesar, hearts of Romaine, or chilled prawns), two sides, and one sauce. Bone-in NY $52, porterhouse $58, bone-in rib steak $68. Free parking at the hotel next door.

Sounds and looks terrific. And all that’s included and free parking. Wow. Thanks for the update.

It should’ve stayed closed.

Waste of good red meat.

You ate there already?

That’s too bad. Tell us about your meal please.

No, and I’d like to keep it that way.

You must have heard something to feel so vehement. Care to enlighten the rest of us? As I mentioned, it’s been about 30 years since I ate there so am interested in it for that reason.

I had several good meals there while Charlie Parker was the chef.

Missed this news.
