APL Restaurant

I too love a good chili dog, but onions are a requirement. Please report back if you go. It’d be pretty funny (but not surprising) if he did charge for them.

By that reasoning, why should steakhouses exist at all?

Current prices are:

Dry Aged Brooklyn Broil
Ribeye 79
Bone-In NY Strip 75
T-Bone 78
Porterhouse 185
APL Selects
Filet Mignon 58
NY Strip "Prime Rib"English Cut / King’s Cut 48/56
Skirt Steak Crispy Chicken Skin Gravy 34

For comparison, Gwen charges:

New York Strip, Creekstone, 16oz $65
Hanger Steak, Creekstone, 8oz $45
Bone-In Ribeye, Creekstone, 30 day dry aged, 34oz $135
Bone-In Ribeye, Creekstone, 80 day dry aged $MP

It is for me. Also, steak houses have access to meat we mortals can only dream of, not to mention special aging rooms and high octane grills.

Who said anything about them not needing to exist? I didn’t. I just said that a high end steakhouse needs to be on point. Meaning, if it’s not terribly hard to buy a good steak and cook it nicely, then a high end place serving something rather similar needs to be all that much better.

The Grill in NY is one of my favorite places recently. It’s a high end steakhouse, but the food and experiences deliver at a very high level, and the dishes are consistently good across the board. It’s probably slightly more expensive than APL, but I don’t mind, because the execution is great.

I think Gwen is a high end steakhouse, not your average steakhouse, and it should be subject to the same level of scrutiny.
