Augustine Wine Bar - Fantastic Food

Loved dinner last night at Augustine. Everything was very well-made and tasty.
Chef Simon Tan, who has worked at some pretty great kitchens (Gramercy Tavern, State Bird Prov.) is really flying below the radar in LA, with great food and excellent pricing. Ought to be better known.

We split a good chunk of the food menu between 5 of us:
Crab Salad in Chiiled Cucumber Soup, Salmon Tartar, Duck Confit over peas/sprouting brocolli, Farro Risotto, Porterhouse (amazing side sauce with 'shrooms/cognac/spices, apparently called a Duxelles sauce), and a lovely perfectly roasted salmon with veg.

As J-L says:
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I could not agree with you more. Such a lovely spot, and how fantastic we have a place that opens some pretty great vintage wines and offers them by the glass!

The porterhouse is amazing. I never see it on the menu, so one might want to call first to see if it’s available. My favorite is Simon’s duck confit. That paired with a lovely gamay rocks my world.

Ventura Blvd? bookmarked.
