That’s a very sober budget Pizzana?

You could go to Mercado La Paloma and get Chichen Itza and/or Holbox. Vegetarian can get some stuff from Chichen Itza or vegan Ethiopian from Azla. It’s kind of fun.

Thanks all for your suggestions. Yes should have mentioned sober lunch too.

Been meaning to try Lonzos Peruvian in Culver City, who’s been?

I’ve been. It’s tiny, really tiny and the chairs are uncomfortable. We’ve had one or two good dishes, but for the most part my husband and I didn’t like the food.

Mega Pizza?

Maybe Taqueria Los Anaya?

LOL. Thats our standard go-to, we’re trying to change it up for a change!

How about Abhiruchi Grill?

PS: Also, Little Fatty or Lodge Bread.

AR Cuchina in downtown Culver City is a nice setting and reasonably priced at lunch. The food is good, not groundbreaking, but good quality.

Edit to add: Is this for a bunch of dudes? Because man and women tend to want different things for birthday lunches. If it’s a bunch of guys, I change my recommendation to Holy Cow.

I was going to suggest Maple Block, but one of them is vegetarian.

Been there, done that. Tougher if you’re with a vegan.

House salad, Texas toast, and corn on the cob. Or loaded tots (no bacon, please), cole slaw, mac 'n cheese, corn chowder, onion rings, kale salad (very good).

Well today is Tuesday (oops) but for a casual and affordable lunch with some birthday desserts to follow, maybe Argentine cafe & bakery Grand Casino in Culver City.

Thanks for asking Big Mouth.

My vegetarian friend couldn’t make it so 2 of us went earlier today to Lonzos and really loved it. Did a bit of research beforehand and decided on side of melty plantains, pan-fried salmon and crispy ceviche for 2 dudes and could barely finish it all.

The salmon had a nice crust and was cooked rarish as requested served a top quinoa and veggies. Side of hot plantains was perfect starchy complement too. There was some crazy good sweetjsh white sauce that came along with it…good stuff.

Ceviche-wise, crispy hot baby calamari were the perfect crunch to the cold citrusy dressing and firm fresh bass. Different and refreshing Latin flavors than say typical lunchtime Mexican food like Los Anaya, nice to switch it up!

Though many recommend the mango ceviche and filet lomo I thought mango would over power the fish and lomo too heavy for lunch. Maybe another time.

The Aji green sauce IMO is tastier than say Pollo A la Brasa and El Pollo Inka. Tried it with bites of everything and was sooo good!

This place strikes me as the kind of spot you may not like at first if you order the wrong thing. Glad I did a bit of advance homework.

Highly reccomend making reservations and aiming for noon, place was mobbed by 12:30!!

That’s Aji Amarillo Sauce. Good good stuff when done right.

Confess your unpopular opinion time: I don’t like the aji green sauce at Pollo Ala Brasa.

Me too. Kotosh is my personal favorite.
