fingers crossed!
Sergio (Kikuchi) has had his underlings manning the tempura on non-weekends for a while. I donât see any reason for concern there.
Hi @foodshutterbug and all,
Thanks for the early sleuthing, hereâs the update from Inaba restaurant:
-
The OG Tempura Bar (at the back of the main dining room) is still the same as before: You can order a la carte Tempura pieces, and Kikuchi-san (or the new 2nd Tempura Chef) will be cooking each piece to order in front of you. (Yay.)
-
The Sushi Bar area at Inaba is now being converted into an âOmakase Tempuraâ section with those set menus that were talked about (that includes Sashimi, other dishes, etc.).
-
Kikuchi-san is still cooking on Saturdays and Sundays. For the other days, theyâve hired a new 2nd Tempura Chef to cook.
-
The Tempura Chef will be cooking Tempura for the a la carte and for the special Omakase / Set Menu at the same back fryer (OG Tempura Bar).
So it sounds like weâre still able to enjoy Inaba as is, and with fancier new Set Menus if you want.
@PorkyBelly and @Chowseeker1999 Many thanks for your replies.
After your initial posts to mine, I made a 2nd call to Inaba and spoke with another staff person who explained the difference between the respective tempura counters, but also added the ambiguous caveat about the OG tempura counter and itâs $45 menu going away at some point.
tempura nagomi will be M-F
Hi @foodshutterbug,
Thanks for following-up as well!
I hope it doesnât go away for a long while, but it could also mean that you @PorkyBelly @bulavinaka and our other FTCâers who visit regularly need to load up on Kikuchi-sanâs delicious a la carte Tempura as much as possible to show the management that itâs still popular / viable.
