I’ve always liked Pann’s for a solid comfort food fried chicken dinner. But ever since they’ve stopped doing dinner and shortened their menu, the chicken isn’t as good. This is based off a sample size of two meals. May try them a 3rd time just to see.

FWIW, the patty melt is still good for now.

Mama Joans is down the street.

I have this Friday off I may stop by for the gumbo, but I can’t leave a soul food place without the sides and maybe some baked or fried chicken.

“Baby are you sure you can eat all that?”
"Yes ma’am "

I’ll probably head for a nap at the beach

A must add is Fried Chicken at Alta Adams in Mid-City.

Crispy, juicy, a little heat and an interesting punch of flavor like they use granulated chicken base in the brine.

Some good options for Korean fried chicken courtesy of LA Taco. I’ve never been to the first 3 but they sound and look delicious. The Prince is OG great. They left out OB Bear though.

Met Her At A Bar - Mid-City

Simple is Good Waffle & Whip (real name) - Boneless, Skin-on Fried Chicken, Waffle & Whipped Butter

image
I put butter & syrup on my waffle and a drizzle of hubby’s sweet chili sauce on my chicken.

Fried Chicken Waffle Thai-style - Boneless Skin-on Dark Meat, Tom Yum Seasoning, Crispy Basil, Sweet Chili Sauce, Chili Peppers

I think the white drizzle was a side of sauce from some other dish… I think.

The boneless, skin-on, mostly dark meat chicken is juicy & crispy, lightly seasoned, not too salty. The waffle is medium-thick, fluffy & crispy. Met Her At A Bar has been open for a while now but over the last few months we started seeing lines on the sidewalk. Now I know why. They have a whole Waffle Menu! :hearts:

Times Updated Oct 13th.

Haven’t had Dulan’s Fried Chicken and am sure it doesn’t compare to the enhancements made by new kids on the block, but I :hearts: a simple fried chicken every now ‘n then.

Hah! We recently ate across the street at Sushi Tama and were bagging on The Ivy… like Angelenos sometimes like to do. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: We’ll check out that fried chicken!

Actually, the Ivy has improved and humbled over the years (after the recession). No more attitude and their is complementary sparkling wine when you arrive. Often, complementary cookies too. Anyway, the fired chicken is very good.

Oh nice! Yeah, we don’t boycott The Ivy. It’s just fun to make fun of. It made for great people watching from across the street - like the lady at the valet stand in her 6” heals, daisy dukes, matching mask & a furry pooch sticking out of her designer bag. Only in L.A. kinda’ stuff.

I’m looking for good fried chicken down in Orange County.

I’m looking at Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken.

Does anyone have better recommendations?

Other options include
Crack Shack in Costa Mesa
Georgia’s at Packing District
Roscoe’s in Anaheim

My recommendations would both lean Korean.
BBQ Chicken in Buena Park has BB wings. Crunchy wings with a little bit of kick. Excellent crunch and served with the white moo Kim chee to help cleanse the palate.
Furai Chicken in La Habra. They do both the traditional Korean style fried chicken and regular crunchy coated fried chicken. Whole chickens. Both are lovely and also served with moo Kim chee.

I need to try Furai. My friends enjoyed BBQ Chicken.
I also like the Chicken Box in La Habra/Whittier. It’s a broasted chicken house, but the meat is always moist and the skin crisp.
