Indus Village and Market, Halal, Berkeley

For a very inexpensive Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi meal I go to Indus Village. Seven of us ate there a few weeks ago for about $10 each. Particularly delicious were the lamb chops, palak paneer, baingan bartha. It is Halal so no beer or wine. Next door is their Halal market and butcher which has great reasonably priced lamb and lots of Middle Eastern grocery items including Freeka, Lebne, taramosalata, etc. 1920 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, CA 94702

That’s a great place.

The market next door is broader than Middle Eastern, I think of it as sort of pan-halal.

It is a semi-regular take out spot for us.

New people in the kitchen and I liked the baingan bartha, the nan, and the raita even better.

We hadn’t been in for several months, but just had some decent take out a couple of weeks ago.
