I’ve never had their pizza (we go there mostly for brunch) but, looking at the background and the chairs, yup, I think that is Masa.

They should make a Max Hedstrom movie.

That sounds like a Mad Max remake with a thorough screenplay makeover by Henrik Ibsen.

This is why most of Tampopo went over my head. It was recommended by a guy who can confidently reference Ibsen.

Is confidently referencing Kafka better or worse? How about Vonnegut? Pynchon? Ionesco, maybe?

Does that make a recommendation of the omelette scene from Big Night as possibly the single best use of food in cinema more or less reliable?

Because it really is just a work of art. The movie is great, but that scene itself carries so much. And makes you incredibly hungry in a not food porn way.

[/quote]That movie is being fondly referenced on FTC lately. I’ll have to watch it again.

I wonder if you’re right, but to me that scene is not about food really but more so the act of cooking. Or do you mean literally the best food cooked in a film scene?

If so thought I could reference Pynchon and Kafka I would throw in Bulgakov, Gombrowicz, and Witkiewvicz as well as Tanizaki amongst others… I suppose in some sense I may as well since no one knows what I am saying anyway.

this.
though not because of the folks you just name dropped.

that said, i do agree with your assessment of the last scene in ‘big night.’
