Mud Pie in Los Angeles

Continuing the discussion from Where's kevin:

@bulavinaka’s comment, “the cost of tossing verbal mud pies” reminds me:
Where in L.A. (Pasadena-ish preferred, if at all possible) might one find a really good Mud Pie? Real chocolate crumb crust, absurd amount of good quality coffee ice cream, etc.?

Last place I saw one on a menu was at Islands (don’t bother); we did grab one from the TJ freezer section a week or two ago and it was okay and scratched the itch, but was not the obscenely fulfilling experience we desire.

(I did note that Milk has a mud pie cake thing, and will be trying that, but I don’t think it’s quite the same thing.)

It is in the rotation at Simplethings. They have an amuse version for ~$2 so you can try it out without committing. See webpage for rotation.

That was my first thought, but they don’t use ice cream.

I don’t know how good it is because I hardly ever go there and I’m not a chocolate fan, but I think Black Angus has the Mississippi Mud pie on their menu…and has kept it there all these years.
