so she’s not going to be writing any reviews? Just editing other people’s reviews?
Probably editing out free contributor reviews.
But not a fan so far, definitely didn’t care for the name dropping. I will probably continue to boycott LA Weekly as a publication.

Yes. Short version: Weekly was sold to an initially anonymous group, which proceeded to decimate reporters and editorial staff.

Except for food stuff posted by Food Talkers I haven’t read it in a while. As posters have said, the online format is a pain. But for years the paper was a must read. You could find everything food-wise and everything going on musically in L.A. big or small.
Totally un-food related, but their articles on the unsolved Grim Sleeper crimes were riveting. I think they were responsible for putting pressure on the LAPD. Do they do that kind of reporting anymore?
Do they currently do any reporting?
I picked up a copy out of curiosity when I was in LA the other week and at least one of the stories was recycled from a year ago with no indication that it was a rerun.

I guess not. That’s too bad.
It shouldn’t be surprising what has happened. The descriptions about the previous owner, VMG, are all about SEO, digital advertising, paid media, pay-per-click advertising, etc. - nothing about journalism.
Oh well, we still have Los Angeles Magazine. Not weekly, less gritty, but still really good.
