New MN State Fair Foods 2016

Copied from CH, because I’m lazy.

I will try the Carpe Diem, because well, c’mon! it’s “A Taiyaki (fish-shaped) buttermilk miso waffle cone filled with balsamic-roasted strawberry compote and topped with vanilla ice cream, graham cracker crumble and a fresh strawberry.”

I sing The Fair Song to myself starting in February. Warning - the refrain will jam itself into your brain and never let go. You’ve been warned… - YouTube

The Fair

Minnesota, Minnesota - We are south of Manitoba
We are east of North Dakota
We’ve got something really rare
It’s fulfilling, entertaining
It’s true culture you’ll be gaining
Accept no imitations it’s the Fair

Awesome.

The place that put state fair foods on the heartburn map.

Last time I went to the Minnesota State Fair (1987), there was a stand that looked like a green bell pepper where you could buy a sandwich called a “Hot Dago.” That and Princess Kay of the Milky Way will live forever in my memory.

Grand Szechuan needs to put up a stand and put their deep fried rice cakes with brown sugar on a stick. They’d clean up. Maybe with a side of their scrambled pork brains.

I’d rather have scrambled pork brains, deep-fried on a stick.
