Moon pies were a favorite growing up, and I still get them as a road trip treat from the rest stop vending machine at the top of the Grapevine/Tejon Pass. I like both the traditional chocolate and banana flavors. If I ever find myself in Chattanooga, I’ll be sure to visit the Moon Pie shop!

At the Nashville airport, there’s a store dedicated to moon pies. Last time I was there, they had a triple-decker moon pie of chocolate, banana and vanilla.

And, yes, it was post TSA screening!

Wow! I wish they expand their airport shops westward. I guess I could craft my own triple decker, though I don’t believe I’ve ever come across a vanilla Moon Pie.

I’m too lazy to do a lot of research but growing up in the South, Moon Pies were paired with RC Cola and were considered kinda ‘low class.’ I don’t remember any more than that they were looked down upon by some.
