October 2018 Weekend Rundown

Noted! Thanks for the tips!

Sometimes I crave a greasy pepperoni and extra cheese pizza and this one from Papa Guido’s in Redondo Beach always does the job.

Btw, anyone know if @ipsedixit is ok? I haven’t seen him post in a while.

The naan and kababs are cooked in a tandoor and yes, the green sauce is made there (like everything else)

If you haven’t had their chicken tikka yet, you better remedy that asap

Got to try Kitakata’s Green Chili Shio

Broth is nice! I wished I ordered the noodles more chewy and I’ll skip the egg next time as the yolk is overcooked.

The karaage, the chicken and seasoning is very tasty but the crust is just okay. I’m fine with that.

Speaking of that anyone been to Tenkatori? It’s a karaage specialist

Pasta Sisters in Culver City: Tagliatelle with spicy Arrabbiata sauce, +burrata. Simple and delicious. Noodles were a bit on the firmer side which I liked.

Finally tried Il Romanista in El Segundo today. Calabrese (tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy soppressata), Curva Sud (mozzarella, potatoes, sausage, rosemary), Palatino (mozzarella, provolone, porcini mushrooms, parsley), and Villa Borghese (mozzarella, shredded zucchini, squash blossoms, ricotta).

I decided that I prefer the crust/texture at Il Romanista, but the toppings/taste at Triple Beam.

Spent an evening catching a high school rendition of Night Of the Living Dead…then stopped to try a local taco truck on my way home.
Taqueria Los Santos (Leffingwell, Whittier)

On a proper trompo and served with pineapple. With everything on it, it was a tad spicier than I had anticipated, but very tasty. They give out cucumber slices in addition to lime wedges, so maybe the cucumber is supposed to help tame the heat of the salsa. Also got an order of the chicken tinga-style nachos…those were solid. I love the fact that my neighborhood has so many trucks available at night.

I am so happy to be back. We have such better food in Los Angeles. I stopped at Daikokuya before even going home.

And then tonight, Sichuan Impression, which is wonderful.
Kung pao chicken.

Not spicy, it’s “a little bit sweet” according to the sweet Chinese girls sitting on either side of me. Simply fabulous, as was the jasmine rice.

Took out of town guests to oc and lau in garden grove. This type of Vietnamese food is harder to find outside of little Saigon

I obviously ordered wrong on my visit to Oc & Lau.

I’ve never seen a lobster roll that looked like that.
