Pappy’s Smokehouse, St. Louis

1/2 slab of ribs with 1/2 lb. of burnt ends, fried corn on the cob, baked beans. A heavy 11am indulgence.

Fried corn on the cob? I didn’t even know you could fry corn.

To be honest, it wasn’t that fried. Slightly oily, yes. Guilty? Yes. But it didn’t have the crunch I was hoping for.

Corn fritters, sure. The ones at my semi-local Izakaya, Kiraku, are quite good with matcha salt. But on the cob, I think that’s tougher to do.
