The Return Of Pascal Rigo And La Boulange(rie de San Francisco)?

“Someone registered the new business name at La Boulange’s original Pine Street location. The rumor mill says it was Pascal Rigo.”

“We achieved what we wanted to achieve, which was to have La Boulange in
12,000 stores,” Rigo said. Both parties are staying mum on the future
for those soon-to-be-shuttered storefronts, many which are in prime
commercial locations. “They have a plan for most of them,” Rigo said.
“I have a plan for some of them, also.”

“Pascal Rigo told Inside Scoop that if everything goes well, he should be reopening six of his former San Francisco La Boulange locations — Pine Street, Fillmore Street, Union Street, Cole Valley, Hayes Valley and Noe Valley — starting next week.”

I just noticed yesterday that Pain Pascal is back at Trader Joe’s. It sort of splits the difference between Acme levain and Pain Poilâne. Crust loses its crunch due to the plastic bag but it makes great toast.

Today someone posted on Nextdoor that he has taken over the old Pasta Pomodoro space on College in Oakland, the place is called Nouveau Bakery.

The Oakland branch is open. 5500 College at Lawton.
