Thoughts? (I’m rather disgusted by the fact that employers can keep the tips, if they so choose.)
No effect in California.
Employers can’t keep tips in CA. That won’t change. But, I believe if this passes, tip pooling will be shared with the BOH staff, whereas right now it’s only allowed to be pooled amongst the FOH staff.
California law takes precedence there as well. And there’s nothing to pass, it’s a pending rollback of Obama-era regulations.
It’s going to make people wary of tipping if they think it’s going to the owners.
