I was very sad when Star of the Sea Room closed. The Fish Grotto, not so much. I went once, maybe 35 years ago. I enjoyed the view.
Not really a loss, the food there hasn’t been very good for a long time
Being a native SD, I’ve been going when Mama Ghio would run the hostess stand.
What a sweet beloved lady she and the Ghio family have been.
This was my Mom’s favorite place to eat in the bar with the filet of sole and a bloody mary…
We would go on her passing date and eat and drink to Mom…
I always enjoyed the stuffed avocado with crab and shrimp with a bowl of red Manhattan clam chowder with a bloody and my DH loved their fish n’ chips…
Sailing into the dock area in front of the resto was always a challenge since it was headed with the wind at your back and under sail vs motor, you really had to know what you were doing, unless, it was a Santa Ana going on…
Sad but excited to see what the Brig Morton family will do with the 4+ different restaurants.
