Anchor Bar vs Swan Oyster Depot vs?

So I’ve never been to either and I’m interested. Anchor Bar looks more my style vs Swan.

is Anchor bar legit or is it a tourist trap, and if it’s a tourist trap can y’all recommend something better? It should be noted that it’s 99% likely I will be at Hog Island @ Ferry Market a few hours before a trip to Anchor Bar.

Anchor Oyster Bar is a longtime neighborhood place.

The lines at Swan make it seem like a tourist trap to me.

You might consider Bar Crudo and Hog & Rocks as well.

I really like Anchor Oyster Bar and greatly prefer it to Swan. I think Anchor has equally good if not better seafood, and you can make a reservation rather than lining up for who knows how long.

Anchor’s also open for dinner.

a version in “The Los Angeles Times California Cookbook,” edited by the food staff in 1981, is so different, it’s hard to believe it’s the same dish. It was adapted from a tuna fisherman named Joe in San Pedro and features … pine nuts and raisins.

Sounds like Sicilian zuppa di pesce to me.
