Angry Egret Dinette

I really enjoyed The Saguaro here. I think it’s my favorite sandwich of the year. For me it was really balanced, good textures, a little fatty from the fried brocollini. But it didn’t feel heavy, it actually felt really light and I also ate a tamal which was good.

Tamal, sorry, the picture came out wack.

Huge. Other sandwiches up there for you for context?

The Gjusta prime rib sandwich and the Gjusta porchetta butcher sandwich are some of my top sandwiches

And of course a Langer’s Pastrami on rye but that’s more of a given.

Nice to see a little restaurant-related ambition on the part of our food section’s critics!
IMHO, they have been “Capitol Police level derelict” as far as their duties vis-a-vis restaurants during the pandemic.
OTOH, they have certainly have very been busy with all sorts of social issues, and with home-cooking, but not so much with restaurants and new dishes.

Were there highlights at Angry Egret?

Built-in uni on those oysters 'cuz they knew you’d be doing a size comparison.
