The Barish

Carnevino 2.0

I wouldn’t mind that!

Neither do I, probably what I’d prefer tbh.

Nice building.

I hope it does better than her short lived burger place. I liked it, but it vanished within a year or two.

That wasn’t really her project.

any reports on this place?

Nice menu.

I was a bit skeptical about this place because of its shit location–inside of a hotel and in the middle of hollywood. the place reminded me of a vegas casino restaurant, luckily nancy did not disappoint, this was a very solid meal.

anchovies, fett’unta
these are the same excellent pujado solano anchovies used at osteria mozza, but I like the accompanying garlic toast points and mozzarella at mozza better than this soft grilled bread.

barish farmhouse roll, rodolphe le meunier butter
if I had know was only one per order I would have ordered my own, this was excellent. highlight.

tomatoes, white gazpacho, nectarine, marcona almonds, anise hyssop
good

grilled sweetbreads, salsa verde, lemon
these had a bit of crisp on the outside and were tender and creamy in the inside. was great with the salsa verde.

rigatoni, corn, goat cheese, vadouvan
highlight. nice balance of sweet and savory.

warm testa, radicchio, shallots, sherry vinegar
highlight. the radicchio was cooked down enough so that it didn’t overpower but still had some bitterness to cut through the fatty testa.

lamb shoulder, summer squash, merguez, pink celery
highlight of the night. I was expecting a braised prep, but loved this rolled version with its fatty, cumin-y, crust on the outside and tender, lamby-ness on the inside.

ribeye cap
solid

grilled maitake mushroom, oyster mushroom, porcini butter
excellent.

creamed mustard greens, pecorino, mustard seeds

eggplant, bone marrow, charred scallion vinaigrette
excellent smoky eggplant. the bone marrow I didn’t think was necessary.

melon sorbetto, figs

pre-dinner banana milk cream pie at katsu sando
highlight was running into fitness model and ig influencer @chrishei, great chatting with you.

Now I want all my rolls to look like they were designed by Frank Gehry :star_struck: that’s a great looking meal.

The Barish is a nice cross between Osteria Mozza and Chi Spacca.

Testa, rigatoni, farmhouse roll, and lamb shoulder were all highlights. Excellent.

That is so much my kind of menu. And I love the Roosevelt.

It’s a nice menu with a little bit of everything in a beautiful hotel! Parking is a turn off being in that part of town. It’s valet only. $16.5 before tip after validation.

I had a fantastic meal here last night:
Bread and anchovies - Had me feeling like a Sicilian fisherman. So good.
Testa - A plate of fat and acid and spicy greens. Also delicious. This would be best to share as it’s very rich.
Tomato salad - May have been the highlight of the meal.
Pork chop - The bartender told me the farm they source their pork from is next to an ice cream factory, and so the pigs get to eat all the discarded ice cream. Not sure if this is apocryphal or not, but I can confirm the pork was fatty and well-brined and damn good. It’s served below of a pile of pickled onions and greens, which complemented it well.

Was it a full house?

When I arrived at 6 it was about a quarter full. By the time I left, around 8, it was full up.

I went the other week got a lot of stuff with 5 people…I liked it but don’t know if I’d go out of my way to go unless I needed a spot right there in Hollywood
