Anyone use the word 'gourmet' lately?

Have you seen it on signage anywhere? Yes, on an occasional deli or market. Do you use the word ‘gourmet’? Not since Gourmet Magazine ceased publishing. (I do miss it to this day.) Has the word ‘gourmet’ become passe?

I think it’s only been used ironically or in a mocking sense for several decades.

Fun question.

I shop at this place regularly.

At least around here it’s a fairly common word in the names of restaurants and other businesses.

Sounds like people who are “legends in their own minds.”

I think it’s mostly non-native-speakers who don’t think it’s cheesy. Which it’s certainly not, in French.

Most do not live up to the word. If the word ‘gourmet’ has become somewhat passe, perhaps the word ‘gourmand’ would allow for a bit of gluttony?
