What infuriates me most about the Rudy Kurniawan story is that it illustrates how the high prices of top wines are due to people who don’t even appreciate wine. True wine lovers are getting priced out by idiots who can’t tell Burgundy from Bordeaux yet buy Romanee Conti.

He should go into the fine art business. I have no doubt that he could make a bunch of Cy Twombly paintings and sell them to “art lovers.”
