I’m a friend/follower of Illyanna Maisonet on social media, and the tone of his initial response to her query felt dismissive and condescending. The photo that surfaced later just disgusted me. I had the pleasure of attending her Puerto Rican Christmas Dinner last year (I linked her pernil recipe published in the L.A. Times shortly afterwards somewhere on FTC). I subscribe to her newsletter, which is rich with history, reflections, and recipes. Highly recommended.
