Sadly, I think it likely we are going to lose gems - we already have.
Without financial support from the federal level, without eviction moratoriums and rent assistance and everything else, a lot of restaurants are not going to make it.

Same here! I’ve enjoyed his food-related pieces (including with the Southern Foodways Alliance) and now am savoring his LAT columns that go beyond food. He has a knack of, with a few pointed observational words, putting the reader into the reality of the narrative.
