Dish of the Month (DoTM) -- MARCH 2017 -- NOMINATIONS

Hello:

Well, I thought I’d be able to begin March’s nomination process by talking about how we’re supposed to be looking forward to Spring, but it’s still cold and it’s supposed to get wet again this weekend. So maybe y’all are still in the mood for warm and comforting dishes. Or maybe you’re in the mood for some eyeballs. :eye: :eye:

Nominations in ALL CAPS and due by 11:59PM on 02/26 (sorry for not posting earlier!).

PREVIOUS WINNERS:
January: SOUP/STEWS
February: CHICKEN

BEGIN!!!

I don’t know if this is out of bounds as a suggestion but:

Spring is new. New plants. spring cleaning…

DOTM: Something you’ve never tried before.

Never had that really stinky cheese you were always thinking about? do it.
Never gotten your mouth numbed up with schezuan peppercorns? Get some!
always wondered what was up with that Ethiopian place? Now’s the time.

Just a thought.

I think we used to try to limit the suggestions, but it’s become very loose over time, and the world has not fallen off its axis. So I think your unofficial nom (not ALL CAPS) is fine.

TOAST with stuff on it

I didn’t realize the ALL CAPS was a thing.

SOMETHING NEW FOR YOU

there.

I think it’s “April showers bring May flowers”

maybe May could be edible flowers?

Jordan Kahn is all over that.

at $250/pp I’m not all over that. I’m not even on the same block as that.

But they’re so pretty… and then you EAT them.

It’s true. Just watched one of those David Attenburough shows. Lots of pretty stuff getting eaten.

If fact, that also kinda describes Chef’s Table, too.
I’m liking season 3 even more than the previous ones. The Nancy Silverton episode is fantastic.

SALADS would be great.

LAMB, please.

:sheep:

my vote is for SALADS…

I’m with @MaladyNelson for SALADS, NOODLES, and DUMPLINGS.

I can’t think of anything new. Beef tendon, maybe.

There are some pretty jaded palates on this board. If it’s edible, it’s been ate.

Another vote for SOMETHING NEW

I have my eyes on a Nicaraguan, Chileno, and Colombian place. And the “Special” at Shatto 39.
