Ralph’s Fried Chicken
[/quote]Love it. It’s my little reward for having to trudge thru the market at the end of a long day. But shhhh… I mostly only eat the crispy skin.
Okay guys here’s the ace up my sleeve for cheap eats.
Pitfire Pizza
In front is a big sur for $11 and in back is a kids pizza for $5.50…
What is the size of a kids’ pizza relative to the regular size???
It’s technically an inch less but it’s the same dough ball. So it’s a little bit thicker than the regular.
Egyptian Falafel sandwich from King’s Kabob, $5
King’s Kabob
5500 Sawtelle Blvd

Bill’s Hamburgers (Bill & Hiroko) - 1 hamburger, 1 cheeseburger and 2 drinks - $10.70 including tax.
Bay Cities Italian Deli under $10 and Tommy’s Rampart Under $7.00
Do y’all have Indian casinos in your area? One of our favorite breakfasts is in a (NV) casino. $3.33 for three eggs, three strips of bacon, potatoes and toast. With that breakfast you get a great cup of organic coffee for a buck. 'Course there’s the ‘hidden cost.’
last night i had a double double along with a regular hamburger (both animal style) for $6.75. i didn’t think pics were necessary - you know what it looks like or you don’t.
You’re real young, aren’t you? I can’t imagine eating that much
i’m going to go back about eight weeks total:
- 3 “aporkalypse” tacos from carnitas el momo $7.50
- mr baguette banh mi about $4 but i was underwhelmed. i still think BMMT has superior fillings.
- sam woo late night beef chow fun, i think about $5
- kimbap from the “the square” supermarket in rosemead (san gabriel & garvey) $4 total and and @tonyc would say, a bangin’ bargain. i wish i lived closer.
- recent dog haus "20th store opening - free hot dog i paid $3.50 to upgrade it to a combo
the best part of the experience was listening to the lady at the next table calling all family members (in cantonese) on the phone telling them to come get free hot dogs as she’d been through the line TWICE already
- bowls of pho/bun from saigon eden each bowl less than $8
- just had lunch at jasmine house. would not make the cutoff except i had a buy one lunch special get one free coupon
OMG, the pork chop with garlic and spicy salt might be the best i’ve had in LA. i think they use corn starch for the crust, light and crispy and full flavored. go even without the coupon
the mongolian beef simiarly well executed. normally, i eat around the onions in this dish, but the onions were an actual ingredient in this dish instead of the filler it turns out to be in lesser places; but the scallion & onions were just cooked through so they still had texture, yet cooked through enough to be slightly sweet.
this dish, while well done, didn’t grab us the way the other two dishes. the shrimp (the legit parts of them, anyway) were perfectly cooked. snow peas could have been a little crisper.
and with coupon only $17.99 total for three (3) dishes, rice, and soup
including tax.
hardly, i just have a capacity for volume. i actually used to be able to eat a lot more and not put on weight until about 6 years ago. i put on 35 lbs and and in the last 3 months have managed to lose about 20 lbs of it. (obviously, i cheat a lot)
