East Bay Korean

I was craving haemul pajeon and Yelp had a lot of reports from fairly knowledgeable-seeming types that Hancook makes a good one. It’s good though I think Seoul Gomtang 2’s is better.

They seem to specialize in kong sam, which I’d never heard of.

Huge portion of moderately spicy broth, pork belly, tteokbokki, and bean sprouts.

Good but really enough for four, so we took the fried rice to go.

In other news, Ohgane is open late again, 1:30 am Mon.-Sat. with a late-night happy hour after 10:00 pm.

Korean-style nachos at Azit: fun to try once but would not order again. Not much food for $17.

Fishcake soup ($19) very good and a good value. Seafood pajeon ($18) was good though not as good as Seoul Gom Tang’s.

My friend ordered and liked the banana makgeolli but I would definitely not order that again. I hadn’t had Terra (Jinro) beer before, I think it’s better than Hite, OB, or Kloud.

Lively place, young crowd, open until 2am every day.
