Easterly Hunan Cuisine

Small local chain. Had lunch at the one in Millbrae. Really interesting menu with many unusual dishes.

Pork with rice flour: delicate pork belly, reminiscent of mei cai ka rou. Delicous.

Smoked pork with celtuce. Fantastic. Spicy but not overly so, much milder and not as insanely smoky as the old Hunan’s smoked ham.

Eggplant with pork, garlic, and cilantro. Great. I really want to know how they prep that garlic. I’m thinking maybe soak in salted water.

Looking forward to trying the Berkeley branch.
