Erven Killed it Last Night

Wow!!! Even better than my first visit. Was blown away.

– Soft tofu with brussels sprouts, pickled garlic ponzu, lime cured onion and popcorn

– Shredded cabbage pancake with braised eggplant, chili hoisin

– Onion bread pudding with mushroom chili, broccoli and spicy squash spread
– Falafel with apricot-ginger mostarda, dried olive and smoked paprika
– The piece de resistance was the Eggplant dish, shown above, that was umami-to-the-max, somehow a veggie equivalent of a really fine Waygu.

Looks divine! I’m curious if it was crowded when you went? An under the radar restaurant at the moment!

It was crowded.
We walked in (sans reservation) at about 8:30 - there was only one open table.
Once the Gold-ster chimes in, soon a little bird tells me, it will be quite a hard table to get I think. Don’t know if they plan to serve in the upstairs “balcony” 'cause the downstairs does not have a whole lot of table space.

Oh, the bread pudding sounds lovely!

Such a coincidence you did a re-review. I ate at Au Lac (the DTLA location) last weekend (too lazy to post a mini-review in the rundown), and I couldn’t help but think that I enjoyed my one visit to Erven SO much more…
