Favorite Restaurants San Fernando Valley (SFV)?

Never heard of this place. Is it new? Perhaps I need to make a trek to the SFV…

Can confirm that Pasadena location is delicious!

There is also a location in the Colony that my coworkers really like that may also be convenient to you. It’s ideal food for take out as it’s best to let the white sauce settle.

I think it’s worth it. Here’s the L.A. Times review:

The ghost kitchen in West LA? Not seeing it listed, but the UX for the website is horrific. I will take a closer look later to see if I can find it. Thanks for mentioning this…

It’s a couple doors down from Pizza Wagon. It’s been like five different things in the past year or year and half.

Lamb is pretty great there too.

Yeah, Their website for orders is: https://www.ordercolony.com/

However, for the few times I have ordered from a Colony restaurant, I have just ordered from there because I was already nearby.

Furn Saj.

Are you kidding me? This is freakin great. 10/10.

Came here looking for a place to eat after seeing the Great Wall of LA (must see!!!).

This has to be an absolutely must for the valley.

Did he named drop it on a recent podcast? I think for alot of people here it is still a long haul. It is practically on the other side of LA for me. Weekend visits for me only. I think what I had could be worth it if you never had it.

What else to get at Furnsaj?

most anything except, kinda strangely, their kebabs arent great

Have people been to the other locations? I see mentions above but I didn’t real closely to see if people had actually eaten at them.

Furnsaj (Granada Hills) delivers through UberEats. All the way to downtown (20 miles).

For me, the food is average Lebanese. That’s not a diss. I’m a fan of average Lebanese and would eat this food any time. It certainly beats average American food. But nothing here stands out as noteworthy to me.

Notes: the grape leaves are intensely lemony, and the hummus is on the lemony side too.

The chicken shawarma is similar to Zankou’s. I’d give the nod to Zankou (at least the four locations I’ve been to).

My favorite item is the “jackfruit sambousik.” I could swear there is no jackfruit and it’s instead all potato. It tastes like a baked rather than fried samosa, with a similar spice mix.

I find the namesake Saj bread—stuffed with zaatar and cheese—ordinary but good.

Vinh Loi. Fried rice. “Roast duck”. They stopped making in-house tofu.

Wanderlust. Mango Sticky Rice (vegan).

Las Fuentes opening a new location in Chatsworth. Strip mall-ish property with a JitB, Starbucks, Popeyes, (and of course with those fast food joints) a Planet Fitness.

SW Corner of Mason & Lassen. No idea when they are opening.

Sorry to hear they stopped making in-house tofu. It was so good.
I was there once after school when all the kids piled in (who are probably now in college). Wonderful family interaction.
Great people!

Perhaps we need a favorite street food in the San Fernando Valley thread. I mentioned before about the 29th best tacos in LA is a little stand up the street from my house. I will post pics next time I go there. Tacos are getting pretty expensive though - up to $1.50 apiece.
A few miles away is a wonderful Armenian kebab truck. It’s on the corner of Oxnard and Woodman. I didn’t get the name and phone# which was a mistake as it takes around 25 minutes to get your order. So worth it!
I got the beef lula plate. $15. Delicious!

I think @Nemroz would approve.

I know you know that I live in Sherman Oaks. But one of the best birria places in the city is Birrieria San Marcos on Hazeltine about a block south of Oxnard. I know some will say they can’t be one of the best since their birria is beef. Yeah. No.

Taco Tuesday’s their straight birria street tacos are $1 each. You can’t beat this place!

I have been there thanks to your recommendation. The consomme is so delicious. My usual order is two queso tacos and consomme.
While I am not fond of LA I love that there is street food here! Almost makes up for the traffic…

I swear I can’t remember a damn thing, I’m glad that at some point i recommended this.

I get a keto taco, and bring it home and throw the whole thing in a very large 1 net carb flour tortilla and put some sour cream on it.

Now that’s keto
