The headline is misleading, she doesn’t actually say why. And she’s not really moving on, just going to be writing about other things.
How was she thought of in the bay? Seemed like her writing got a lot of national attention
Michael Bauer managed to find a replacement that made him look good in retrospect.
But on a - much - smaller scale you could have said the same about Frank Bruni.
Not at all. The NY Times has never had a critic as awful as Bauer. The SF Chronicle probably wouldn’t have, either, but he was hired as an editor (which he was good at) and then fired the paper’s two excellent critics to take their jobs for himself.
