It makes all the competition and copycats seem exactly like posers. I did not love the tenders I had at Dave’s. The Crimson Coward stuff I tried a while back ago also seemed pedestrian. But I easily loved each item I tried today. HR easily outclasses them both. They have my love.
Next time…secret menu. I want some Mario fries and fried pickles…and maybe some banana pudding.
P.S. I reheated the greens and the country wing. They were both amazing. Solid good cooking with an attention to detail. Flavors are interesting and complex. My family enjoyed the batter’s box of mild wings and pickles.

I would use that pass on Sunday’s (I think one of the busier days), to try their chicken and waffles

Agreed. Those waffles are amazing. Crispy and airy. Chicken ain’t half bad.

Excellent report! Glad you enjoyed the food. I am still unsure how Chef Zone gets those wings so darn tender.

We actually went on an ice cream run after lunch. To help cool palates.

The banana pudding is so perfect words can’t describe it

I have every respect for your judgement, but palates will not be the problem in the morning. As someone of northern European ancestry, who loves high end scoville units, I can assure you that ice cream vs. ghost peppers is definitely bringing a knife to a gunfight.

The ice cream was only a temporary fix. I’m fully aware that afterburn is likely in these cases of extreme heat. But everyone played the Howlin’ game of their own free will.

I know. My comments were in jest…well I committed the idiocy of loving more spice than I can handle many times…will probably do it again when I finally use my fast pass.

A few years ago when I was working in Altadena, we used to go to Mota’s Mexican Food all the time; they had great homemade tortillas and they’d treat us well (happily, from some yelp sleuthing it appears they’re still around https://www.yelp.com/biz/motas-mexican-food-altadena)

One lunch, I decided to order the torta ahogada. I had never had it before, but it sounded good, and hell, I can deal with spice pretty well. The proprietor basically begged me not to order it, but I held firm. It is still, by some measure, still the spiciest Mexican thing I have ever consumed in my life (I’ve tried a few more ahogadas since, and happily none have matched its potency). Somehow, I finished 3/4 of it.

The next morning, I was about halfway on my half hour drive in to the office, when it became suddenly apparent to me that I had in fact made a tremendous mistake yesterday. The next ten minutes or so were the fastest I ever drove a car. I made it in, then spent the next unhappy hour learning that humans have taste receptors in places besides their tongues.

A question for those who’ve used a FastPass, can you order more than $50 and pay the difference? I’d imagine many people easily exceed $50.

Yes. You can order more than the $50 on the fast pass and pay the difference on another credit card. Alternatively you can buy less than $50 and use the fast pass twice. Although what type of maniac isn’t spending $50+.

Whoa, didn’t realize you could use it twice. But like you say, what maniac isn’t using all of it right away haha.

Unless something changed the fastpass can only be used once.

What happens if you spend less than $50? My friend told me he spent ~$40 initially then was able to use the fast pass again and put the remainder on a credit card.

The gift card and fastpass are separate items, you can use one without the other. If you have money left on the gift card you can just use it on another visit.

Each gift card comes with a HOWLIN’ FASTPASS™, good for ONE SCHEDULED PREORDER (MAX OF 4 GUESTS PER ORDER) with no wait!
