Same. I think as long as we stay away from the top 4 or so producers in the country we are probably fine. I’m going to research where the birds i get are from. always plump and fresh.

you prefer the butt-fucked, beak-less, bruised, shot up with rhoids, mentally challenged, ex-convict chicken descriptions?

Hemorrhoidal chickens are the WORST.

butt-fucked
[/quote]You heard that story too huh? If you don’t want to be completely scarred don’t look at the undercover pig farm videos :fearful:.

Yep! That’s the same Organic Chicken Packaging. Shame about the Grill Packs. You should ask them about it. It might not be called Grill Pack there (The Mary’s Chicken package uses that name, which I purchase from Sprouts. Sadly TJs is no longer close to where I live). It’s Two large Bone in split Breasts and Four Drumsticks. A good deal for creative cooks.

Edited: FOUND it! They call it the family pack

Okay. FINAL update. Ran into TJs in Westchester on my way to tennis. And it seems like they have reverted to the Mary’s “Grill Pack” wording… still an amazing price of 2.96lb

so you are saying that is Mary’s Chicken?

Kinda confused. Mary’s is located in California. The TJ’s package label indicates organic certification by Oregon Tilth?

Also, Mary’s website states their chicken is packaged in 100% recyclable cardboard trays - no foam. That’s foam, no?

Good points. Then perhaps it might not be Mary’s at all. Still cooks up really well in a cassoulet.

Seeing as we’re discussing chicken, I would like one of these for my birthday, please.

Noticed the other day the Cannibal Butcher Shop is now selling whole Mary’s chickens that are smoked.

Interesting. I was in the area a few weeks ago and I enjoyed their turmeric smoked chicken sandwich from the take out counter. A whole bird could be a nice option if I was feeling flush.

Great sandwich

Does anyone know how this flush bird is prepared other than smoked? Thanks

Oregon Tilth is a certifier of organic products all over North America, not just Oregon. We use them for organic certification of some of the supplements we produce.

Thanks for the info. I know TJ has some suppliers that can be surprising. So it may be possible that Mary’s supplies chicken sans their name. To label their chicken offered at TJ would not be smart.
