Mystery solved. It now has a banner that says Cantina y Cocina Kalaveras referring to https://www.kalaveras.com/. This is on the same block as Don Antonios and The Talpa. Just what we needed.
Not my cup of tea but they could do well in that location. The Talpa and Don Antonio’s have lost some of their 70’s lustre.
Kalaveras is a chain from the suburbs. It’s okay Mexican food, but is about a relaxed club-y atmosphere. Some of their cocktails are good, but they also skew gimmicky. Good for an afternoon with friends who care a little less about food.
