Pizza slicing geometry

Continuing the discussion from Casa bianca pizza pie:

That Mathematicians Say This Is The Best Way To Slice Pizza headline is bogus. The question posed by the paper was, “Can we construct monohedral tilings of the disk such that a neighbourhood of the origin has trivial intersection with at least one tile?” They mention pizza only once, in the second sentence, as a common example. Somebody at New Scientist wrote it up as providing new ways to slice pizza, and PIzza Marketing Quarterly took it even further down that path.
