Thanks again @Loaxley for doing this- great success, and your first time at that! And thank you @Clayfu for the generous sharing of your libations.
The menu was great with the uni capp being my favorite, followed by the stuffed calamari and the patata caviar pizza. Lamb sausage is still the best all-time Sei pizza.
It was lovely to finally meet some of you ācelebsā and I learned a new term for people like myself: lurker. LOL. I was a little antsy to be coming solo to this so thanks to everyone who was gracious enough to talk to me.
Fantastic! Hats off to @Loaxley for putting this together and Chef William & Co. for that excellent meal! Sorry to have missed seeing old friends and meeting new ones but it was fun reading the journey! Thanks for sharing!
Tonyās Pizza Napoletana in SF has a tasting menu for six people. Every friend Iāve asked about it responds like, uhg, too much pizza, that doesnāt sound like fun. Weirdos.
Thanks again for putting this together @Loaxley. Food was amazing, and Iām very glad we opted for the fewer slices with better ingredient option over more pizza Cold margherita special with Jamon was a real surprise, brought me right back to Spain with pan con tomate vibes on better bread. Squid in the Frutti di Mare had excellent texture
My +1 and I had a wonderful time. I went into the evening not knowing anyone on here, so it was great meeting and talking to so many of you. Unsurprisingly, a bunch of foodies who post on a food message board have a lot of shared interests and topics of conversation
I thought the food was fantastic, and I was particularly impressed with what William was able to make given the constraints of his small kitchen. My favorites dishes of the night:
Hokkaido uni cappucino
Australian wagyu beef carpaccio
A5 wagyu meatball
Patate with āGrand Oscietraā Astrea caviar pizza (thanks @Clayfu!)
William mentioned to me at the end of the night that some of the dishes didnāt turn out quite how he wanted, but I assured him that everything was delicious.
Echoing what many others have said, I am still full, and probably will be for the rest of the day. Those who took a few slices home might have had the right idea!
Thanks again, everybody, for helping make last night such a fun time. Turns out there are still good corners of the internet!
There was so much food people just started putting course after course into a box because they couldnāt take another bite. It really was an epic meal.
Been a while since I had a meal that blew me away but this hit on all cylinders. That perfectly creamy chewy dough with the incredible off-menu toppings
Okay I honestly couldnāt tell how good the cold margherita actually was last night. I was heavily tapped out so the nibble I took didnāt do anything for me, plus I had likely a gallon of water in me (salty pate). Just ate the leftover right now as a pre-dinner snack and golly, itās so bright and scrummy and I want to do it all over again. I hope this makes a more frequent appearance on his specials.
Only because I ate (most of) every course so I didnāt have any leftovers. It was possibly the most food Iāve ever consumed in a single sitting.
With some time to reflect, I agree with @boourns and @namstermonsterās sentiments on the cold margherita special pizza and I award it my #1 dish. It really was better than any pan con tomate that Iāve had in the US, and the jamĆ³n was divine. The potato pizza with caviar a close 2nd, and I will happily promote it on social media @Clayfu
So amazing!
He was clearly riffing on a Spanish Pan con tomate.
Also, by serving it at the end, I wonder if he was trying to say something interesting about non-sweet ādessertā pizzas?
I was so stuffed and planned to take it home, and eat later, but once I saw it, could not.
Such a perfectionist!
My only regret: I wish I had walked around the room and said hello to some of you who I never met. The food was just so enthralling I did not want to move much (and had a prime view of the kitchen).
Thanks to @Clayfu for sips!
I hate all of you. That meal looks amazing. My 13yo, who loves Sei as much as me, just spent a good 10 minutes salivating over the pictures. Well done!
