Restaurants Closing for Delivery & Takeaway

As of Sunday Republique is taking a short break. Not sure what that means but that’s how they put it on IG.

Republique back open - no more prepared food though. Mostly a market / larder, though they’re selling their breads and pastries. That mango & passion fruit cream pie is explicitly listed, as is a passion fruit and raspberry cream pie that they served during Thanksgiving.

You have to reserve one of the $9 time slots first then add on after.

They’re only offering a passion fruit & raspberry pie.

ah i see now, thank you.

Damn. No slots available now anymore. I must have missed it.

Swingers on Beverly and The Pikey are shuttering.

I went to Swingers all the time late at night. Really a shame. Very reliable place, and food made the old fashioned American way.

That’s heartbreaking. :frowning:

Terrible news. Sounds like it was going to happen but COVID accelerated the closing/retirement. Maybe somebody will resurrect Stan’s once we’re able to safely come out .

I hope so. There are a dozen Stan’s Donuts in Chicago through a partnership deal, so maybe it can be done here as well.

I drove by looking for frozen dumplings only to find that Cindy’s Kitchen in Hacienda Heights had decided to close for the entire month of April.

Hi @attran99,

Thanks for the info. Very sad to hear. :frowning: Hopefully it’s just temporary; it’d be a great loss.

Favorite hangover breakfast spot of my youth. :slightly_frowning_face: I saw that. I wonder why? No longer trendy?

Not sure if this is the correct thread, but…

Update #1: All India Cafe in West LA has closed. Very disappointed since I really enjoyed the food there (incl the dosa). ::sigh::

Update #2: While driving past the old Javan and current Safir, I saw that all the windows had been plastered w/ signs saying, “JAVAN IS BACK! >>>>” Not sure if the arrows were merely decoration or were actually pointing to something, but I very much liked Javan and am thrilled if it’s coming back (I say, “If” b/c I saw nothing on-line about it when I did a quick check).

Were they related to the ones in Pasadena and Glendale?
