Thank you!

Went to mayfields and ramen shack as a bang bang

Mayfields had very interesting dishes with some good flavors. I liked it but didn’t love it, partner thought it was just meh but she had also had a lot of wine.

We both universally loved ramen shack, maybe the best bowl of chicken shoyu in socal. I tried to get the dirty ramen with the heavier “fish” flavor but was vetoed.

Heritage BBQ in San Juan Capistrano

I’m not an intrepid chowhound like some on the board but wherever we go I always try to seek out some good eating. Having a few occasions to be down south - meaning San Diego - we had to stop at Heritage BBQ on the way home.

Pierre’s Paloma (w/craft hard seltzer) & Double Nickels Pale Ale

Frosty beverages to make the wait better.

Char Siu, Pork & Beef Ribs, Brisket, Mac & Cheese, Smoked Elote (corn, salsa macha, mayo, lime, cotija, cilantro

This first visit was September. The seasonal Smoked Elote isn’t available now but it is so freaking good. :hearts: Mac & cheese is really good. Almost like stovetop with a crumble on top. Sauce has a silkiness with possible help from, dare I say, a velveeta-like cheese.

Today…

”Family Punch… or Punch Your Family” - Apple, Cranberry, Orange, Lemon, Spiced Black Tea, Craft Hard Seltzer

This was a little too sweet but loved the cider-like spice. Hubs had That Nelson Kief IPA.

Spareribs & Beef Rib

We had already eaten but swung by to see if the line was doable. It was. But we didn’t go crazy.

It really doesn’t get better than this. Is this the best BBQ in SoCal? I think it is. Juicy, moist, not too salty (for cue), slight sweetness in the rub, perfect amount of smoky, no lighter fluid taste and that bark! Only needs a little sauce (if any) but I love their black peppery sauce.

Also did curbside pickup once and it was quite easy.
