Santa Barbara - Funk Zone + Sly's Carpinteria

Fun day in SB after a conference. Brunch @ Les Marchands in the Funk Zone was solid - Fig & Arugala Salad w/ house made ricotta, Smoked Salmon Frittata, Fried Chicken with biscuits, gravy and herbed creme fraiche. Pizzas from Lucky Penny looked great, but no room in the inn. Great area with Moxi, Fig St Brewing, wineries, distillery tasting room, shops and Helena Ave Bakery. Very dog friendly.

Dinner at Sly’s was an unexpected delight. The restaurant of James Sly, original chef at Lucky’s Montecito, and his wife, Annie was a near perfect comfort meal. Tableside shaken martinis, beautiful wine list, delicious abalone, Dover Sole, Luger-style Porterhouse, Halekelani Cononut Cake. Heaven.

Highly recommend.
