They finally broke in to the Orange County market. Very smart move.

Dude you already know the answer to this LOL it sucks. All of it. Madre at least has different moles to make it interesting. Except for Wilmington Night Market and other street stands in the LA City borders. But those are not sit downs obviously.

Antojitos Los Cuates, Compton.

La Casita Mexciana, Bell.

Komal, Historic South Central. (Holbox and Chichen Itza of course).

You are going to waste a meal and money around here in the South Bay looking for sit down Mexican.

I’m so excited about Prime pizza in Torrance. I recently had Holbox tasting menu and it was amazing. I’ve been a Chichen Itza fan since around 2011. Looking forward to trying Komal soon!

Little China is officially my favorite Chinese Korean in South Bay jam packed with aghassis and ajummas. Also northern Chinese owners and servers which makes it doubly legit.

Ganpongjii, gan Jjanjjang myun and home style tofu. Will definitely be going back. Wanted to get the ganpongjii with bones but you can’t get that with sauce on the side.

I ate here tonight. Sat at the bar. (Yakitori Nishi in Lomita). Most everything was good except for the tsukune (chicken meatballs) which I found dry. Service was friendly.

Jotting down some quick thoughts…

  1. So excited about Prime Pizza! We never make it far enough to their other outposts so this is a welcome addition. Also looking forward to The Slice and Pints in RB. More good pizza is never a bad thing
  2. I really enjoy Little China. But my wife hates how dirty the restaurant can get and so we rarely go :frowning:
  3. Bagels at Tommy and Atticus. A part of town we rarely hit up but had to drop my son off at Redondo High today so made a pitstop. Went in fully intending to get a croissant or pastry but saw they have bagels! To me, there is a spectrum of bagels from Noah’s (thin, very light, not very chewy) to NYC bagels (fat, dense, very chewy.) The T&A bagel sits at the optimum spot in that range, call it 70% towards NYC bagel - it’s on the thinner side, but not flabby like a Noahs, has a dense, but still airy crumb and is chewy but not in that make your mouth work hard sense. And the everything bagel is sprinkled with just enough salt. Honestly one of the best bagels I’ve had in a long long time and was well worth the wait.

Uncle Stevey’s is pretty good for a NYC/NJ style. Bit of a drive. Took me a little over 20 minutes from Torrance/Redondo border.

We have been going to Iccho a lot recently. Just discovered it. Its nothing special. The execution is fine. But it has some really good comfort food - I love the zosui’s and at $12.90, it’s a steal. The beer is cold. The amaebi sushi is surprisingly solid. The service is wonderful. It’s always lively but never too crowded so you can’t get seated almost immediately. The grilled chicken with wasabi sauce is crazy good - that wasabi sauce (almost like chinese onion and oil sauce but with wasabi leaves instead) is wicked good.

We also hit the new Slice & Pint in RB yesterday. It was mobbed bc of the Dodgers game and our pan pizza too forever to come out. But my family loved it. I personally would prefer a bit more structure in the crust - it’s almost too soft and airy. But the places where it had crisped up cheese were delicious. I’m still curious to try the version at Schellz, if and when it finally re-opens.

@JeetKuneBao Hi sorry, what’s the name of the place? Is this a taco truck?

it’s funny how far El Segundo is, at least the downtown.

I want to go but might have to wait for a slower night. I imagine opening during playoff baseball is huge for them

Ha yeah, it was a bit overwhelming… Food took a long while and the sound was on way too high.

I’ve hit up that spot, I get a couple of tacos canasta de chicharones as appetizers and then cruise over to the guisados spot. They have a decent mole…handmade tortillas are very good.

Tacos Chiapas is the taco truck and they have good birria tacos and the wet burrito (I like the cabeza) is great.

Good place to hit up before seeing a movie at The Gardena Cinema. One of the best date nights in the South Bay. If you are there in the morning Frog’s Bakery is open just down the street.

Had Yoana’s Fish Tacos this past Sunday at the Munchies Night Market.

Fish tacos were $6 but are almost twice as large as ones I’ve had locally. Also, handmade tortilla. 2x is plenty for one person.

Shrimp Ceviche tostadas were amazing. At $13 seems pricey but includes avocado and the portion size is pretty goodly. Ate half and it kept in the fridge and was delicious the next day.
