Tadokoro (Michelin 1-star)

Had dinner at Tadokoro this evening. Everything was good, but I thought it was uninspired and somewhat underwhelming. Wondering why it has a Michelin star, neither the food nor the service was that outstanding

I don’t get it, what am I missing?

Before the pandemic, we’d been to Sushi Tatokoro perhaps three times or so – each time omakase at the bar – and thought it was terrific. So much so that I would always recommend this little place as “the best” to people if they asked. But we haven’t been there since fall of 2019 (roughly, don’t recall exactly) so perhaps the chefs have changed?

No, I don’t think the chef has changed. We were underwhelmed.

I think Kaito Sushi in Encinitas is better.
