What's cookin'?

Much better batch of ratatouille. Everything from the farmers market except the tomatoes, no ripe ones suitable for cooking yet. Everything’s late due to the cool weather.

what did the porcini go into btw?!

I tossed it with young red potato from the gardens. It was a side for something

Made tomatillo salsa but used purple basil instead of cilantro

But why?

I didn’t have cilantro and I did have basil

I have to chuckle. I almost always have arugula so will substitute it for dang near any ingredient that’s green and leafy

Does purple basil have a different flavor profile?

No

No photo but this was really tasty and will be my cooked spinach go-to.

Another Ukha. Camping is the best, though this weather isn’t convenient

I love camping food .

You make fish soup (had to look it up!) when you’re camping? Wow!

Is that some kind of burner that the pot is sitting on? What powers it?

I’m impressed as well. I make hotdogs, fried eggs, and PB&J while camping. And s’mores of course.

I’ll have to share that with our daughter. She, her husband and two young’ish kids go “off the grid” for a week or more at a time

Fondue’s a good choice for car camping.

I think I’ve finally got the hang of fried rice.

What is car camping? When we go off in our RV is that “RV camping”?

Car camping is when you drive to your campsite instead of hiking.

LOL. So I guess when our ‘kids’ drive to a river, park their car, and then spend the next week paddling and camping at night, that’s “car camping.”

Perhaps @Nemroz could follow up.
