Where to dine solo?

How are yall eating at dunsmoor or bavel solo or even Saffy’s/domo? Just getting one dish or a burger?? Dishes too big to make yourself a fun solo meal.

My vote is also Baroo, bar at Kato, shibumi, any great sushi, or even orsa and Winston?

My strategy is stick to apps, sides, raw stuff, salads and/or plan to over order then take leftovers

I would basically do no entrees at bavel, Saffys, or dunsmoor just salads apps sides

Baroo is a pretty light meal, you could do that and something smaller at the bar at Camphor on Thursday too since they are about a block away from each other.

Thanks for the suggestion. But Camphor is doing steak frites on Thursday. Do they offer a different menu for walk-ins on the bar? If they don’t I would probably switch it with one my other days and do Baroo/Camphor on a different day if Baroo is indeed a light meal.

Baroo is light (particularly if you do the vegetarian menu — which I recommend) but I don’t think it’s light enough to do somewhere like camphor. I’d pair it with something like kinjiro, bar menu at kato (or maybe even azay, at the outer limits). i’m not as high on it as others but tsubaki is an option too — it’s nearby, easy to get a solo res at basically any time, and there are 4-5 dishes that are quite good.

Not geographically desirable from DTLA but my all-time favorite spot for solo dining is Gjelina in Venice. Lots of bar / communal table seating and most of the dishes are a manageable size.
