Hatchet Hall? Lodge?

In addition to all the other suggestions, there is a Loqui in Playa Vista.

Also if you’re ok with eating on the way back (to Mid City?), Pizzeria Sei and Citizens Public Market (Gogobird fried chicken and Pizzette) should be right on the route back or thereabouts.

To add a few more nearby choices for you: Irori (Sushi), J. Nichols Kitchen (casual American), Little Fatty (Chinese), Night + Market Sahm (modern Thai), Quiadaiyn (Oaxacan), and Sakura House (Japanese -kushiyaki).

Oh, someone was just telling me about this place tonight but didn’t remember the name but gave the cross streets! Very random that it popped up here today because I don’t recall it being talked about much.

Do they specialize in anything in particular?

Good thread revival! I often get stumped in that area. I know of the restaurants but not necessarily where they are in relation to my destinations. I’m dialed in now. Thanks! We recently had Maple Block takeout and I was ready for something light or a seafood spot, but hubs was curious about Hatchet Hall since seeing my recent photos. HH it was. Will report soon!

Apologies if this is a bit of a thread drift from MDR. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @aaqjr -

@moonboy403 rec’d LA Wine Co. We were kinda in-and-out, but it’s definitely worth more exploring. It has a small warehouse feel like Epicurus, but for wine. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. I had some things in mind from their site and they hipped me to a couple kind finds too.

Hi All - This is a dinner question for MDR/PDR. Does anyone have a rec for a nice business dinner in the area? Thanks.

Charcoal

I haven’t been to Charcoal yet. Is it roomy? I thought of Hatchet Hall but I’m not sure the setup is conducive to a business dinner. Thanks.

Plenty of room. Not loud. Good wine list. Lots of meat but he does veg very well

Great thanks.

Hatchet Hall would only work if you could get the private room. Charcoal is a reasonable option. What about Dear John’s (Dear Jane’s, if you order right), or Pasjoli?

Dear John’s would be too tight and loud I would think. Dear Jane’s would work if most of the party loves seafood -which is their focus (they do have other things but)

Charcoal is a good idea. Also Scopa outside (which is more like a tent with plenty of heat lamps). Inside would be too loud.

This is a rec for a friend btw. My friends utilize the services of FTC via me lol.

I thought about Dear John & Felix but didn’t know Dear John was small inside. I’ve passed by a lot over the years but only had their prix-fixe takeout during the pandemic. Dear Jane has had too many iffy reviews for me to recommend without trying first and Felix doesn’t have a menu on their website (not conducive to rec-ing someone who has never been). The days, hours & indoor/outdoor situation are the most prominent part of the website. However, there is a whole page devoted to Sergio’s cookbook lol. I might put it on the list of recs anyway because they have the space but they used to have the full menu on their site. :smirk:

I personally think Felix the tables are too tight together for a business dinner, but I haven’t been in a while has that changed?
