I’m impatient with the fish head and my chopstick-fu is not Sifu Level too as you pointed out

Hi @JeetKuneBao,

Nice report back. Yes, I love Sea Harbour’s Steamed Live Fish! Just like you said, my SGV friends taught us to add some of that magic fish / soy sauce on top of some rice. It’s so good!

The Steamed Mince Pork with Water Chestnut and Black Bean Paste is delicious, too!

Definitely give their Steamed Live Spot Prawns a try; they always cook them perfectly and that dipping sauce as well with some rice…

Be still my McMichelin heart!

Looks far better than the lunch fare!

Yes, don’t waste that steamed fish seasoned soy sauce. Drizzle as much as you can on top of rice.

The pork patty looks good: water chestnut and diced shiitake is a really good combination, but is that shiitake or pickled olive (lahm choy?) in the patty?

Mom worked in a number of Chinese restaurants and said people think the staff try to push the big ticket items, but in fact the owners wanted her to push the veggie and tofu dishes. They had the biggest markups.

Vege at Chinese restaurants are the biggest ripoff. Think some places charge low $20ish for a plate of sauteed greens.F$#% the balance diet; just go full protein

I know…but no greens just ain’t right. Mom and I argue about this all time. She stopped bringing up the ripoff logic awhile ago, I ain’t listening.

Black bean! Which takes care of the salty part

I forgot to take a pic of the old fire soups they had. I wanted your opinion on those.

Seeing those prawns with the roe you posted was a big push for me to get it next time!

That’s what the restaurateurs are counting on

I seen this over the years. Sometimes they would guilt you or remark how you need some vegetables on your table lol

But still it is very hard to not have vegetables with a Chinese meal!

Parents: buy this simple $12 vegetable dish with 1200% markup.

Also parents: that live shrimp was how much a pound?!??

so true and always confuses me. i buy gailan so cheap yet at dimsum it’s 8$ for what i’d pay under a dollar for.

3 for $1? We ain’t seeing those prices here on the east coast. I think it took me about a decade to get over the stick shock at produce over here.
