Dumplings Come To West Hollywood

Following up on yesterday’s LA Eater story I stopped by the newly opened Dumpling Monster in West Hollywood, which seems to be located quite close to the physical spot occupied by Canton Restaurant for decades in the previous incarnation of that real estate development. Things were a little chaotic with confusion with orders and they even had to temporarily stop taking orders around 1 pm because they were falling behind. I only had the chicken dumplings, something which is seldom seen in the San Gabriel Valley and they were decently done.

I’m not sure I would advise visiting Dumpling Monster until things calm down, but certainly this dumpling option just a few blocks west of La Brea is something I would never have dreamed about even three or four years ago.

Is a dumpling shop opening in WeHo or anywhere west of DTLA still newsworthy?

Thanks for checking it out. I will wait a couple of months before trying it!

Originally a native of the Crenshaw area (now popularly known as West Adams), anything remotely authentic Chinese moving in that direction from the west is noteworthy to me. Plus it’s only 3 miles away from my present abode.
