Despite the chilly nights and mornings, there are about 2-3 hours a day when it’s marginally really good ice cream weather.
Which is why Sucre Sweets is a nice option if you’re in/around DTLA. The ice cream here is a self-proclaimed “Parisian” style which I am told that even though it is custard based it is creamier, smoother and silkier, than traditional American style ice cream.
Sucre has a rotating selection of ice cream flavors, but the standouts to me were the French Vanilla Bean, Honey and Brown Muscovado. And paired with their housemade brownie (cardamom and pistachio!), you have a brownie a la mode worthy of trading in that winning Powerball Ticket.
Well, ok maybe not. But close.
