So no stars for Cassia, Majordomo, or Petit Trois.

Nice, long list for LA, that’s a good sign.

Jitlada yes, Luv2Eat no?

I’m ok with that actually.

lol Jaffa and Thai Thing don’t belong on any list as any kind of standout. Damn. It’s also called The Thai Thing… even Noree 1/3 mile away is better.

Based on my personal experience, same here, but maybe they encountered some of the inconsistency that PorkyBelly did. On the bright side, they recognized the wide range of pricing on the menu.

It’ll be interesting to see The Plate.

More than a handful of restaurants that I’ve never heard of on this list.

I think we can glean quite a few things. Michelin did a pretty thorough job with LA so I think there may be more stars than originally expected. A couple of restaurants I would expect here aren’t there, leading me to think they will get a star. Rustic Canyon, Night+Market, Animal, Lukshon, among others.

There is only 1 Korean Bib Gourmand restaurant - Dha Rae Oak. I guess a lot of Korean restaurants will make the Plate Michelin. Korean restaurants don’t fit the Michelin system very well unless you are higher end like Jungsik and Atomix.

I believe Cote is the only Michelin starred Korean BBQ restaurant in the world as well.

They will announce later which restaurants receive a star or more. This list is just bibs…

Restaurants with stars don’t also appear on Bib Gourmand, even if they meet the criteria.

bibs preclude stars

The LA restaurants on that list that have not been mentioned on this board (or at least don’t turn up in searches):

  • Bowery Bungalow (Silverlakd)
  • Chuan’s (Rosemead)
  • Dha Rae Oak (clay pot duck specialist)
  • Mercado Los Angeles (Wellington Heights?)
  • Mi Lindo Nayrit [sic] Mariscos (S. Central, two locations)

DongLaiShun was mentioned as Dong Lai Shun.

The fact that Chuan’s got a Bib and Bistro Na’s right across the street didn’t gives me the impression that Bistro Na’s will get a star. Bistro Na’s is considerably better and people often go to Chuan’s if they can’t get a seat at Na’s. (Though personally, i don’t agree with that assessment–Bistro Na’s does not deserve a star, even though it is very very good.)

the Bib Gourmand category highlights restaurants that serve high-quality meals which include two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less.

how the fuck are they getting out of some of these restaurants with two courses and a dessert for $40 or less?

cassia, broken spanish, majordomo, son of a gun, rossoblu, petit trois, jon & vinny’s…

Did OC get the shaft? There are only 5 OC Bib awards.
Gabby’s Mexican Kitchen
Garlic & Chives
Hiro Nori Ramen
LSXO
Mix Mix Kitchen & Bar

I think there are a lot more deserving and eligible places in the OC. Also I think Hiro Nori Ramen is a salt lick.
