He’ll just peddle his Ruffles, which I must say, are quite good.

They recently changed the bag, too.

…ROTFL…

Who ?

LOL! I am a ruffles fan but i’ll judge his foodie cred on what he chooses to spend his money on not who pays him to endorse their product.

It says “BY” Anthony Davis on the bag.

This means he created the flavor. Likely in his downtime before the season started, Davis spent his days in a food lab perfecting this creation. And then, out of the goodness of his heart, he gave it, gratis, to Frito-Lay, one of the world’s only honest companies.

He is that kind of guy.

I found myself near Anaheim today and what better way to end the weekend than to pop my cherry with Asadero Chikali. They have another more permanent truck in East LA near Atlantic and the 60 fwy by the way. I had only seen @Srsly mention it before briefly on this board.

Asadero Chikali does the flour tortilla, handmade, rolled out and grilled right in front of you. They are the thin and soft variety.

They flour tortillas are very good, not sure they are the best there is too offer in our city, but very fresh and serviceable. But what makes this place special is their vampiro taco :heart_eyes::heart_eyes: holy fuck was this a revelation in flour tortillas. They basically make the vampiro taco just like the corn variety, grill the tortilla hard as fuck with cheese and then add meat and toppings. But whatever they do is magical, the tortilla and cheese become one, resembling a rigid circular disc much like a tostada shell. You pick this fucker up with your hands, add some of their avocado and green salsa (or red if you like), a pinch of pickled red onion, and shove it down your gullet. The texture is amazing, like the crispiest quesadilla edge where the cheese gets grilled and becomes crispy. The soft tortilla is now crispy yet soft like it was deep fried. All the flavors bombard your brain at once. As I am eating it, I can’t help but compare it to some of the best tacos joints in the city.

Has anyone else tried this place or had anything similar to the flour tortilla vampiro?

The carne asada, chicken and barbacoa were excellent. Don’t waste your time getting tacos or quesotacos here, get those damn vampiros, two is a nice amount of food.

Dat crispy flour cheese tortilla lyfe :heart_eyes::heart_eyes: #greenongreenongreen

Lol, their Instagram pictures are much better than mine. But the vampiro is not photogenic, but easily the item to get here. Keep in mind, I was juggling keeping the toppings on, not getting my phone covered in food and preventing the bags from flying away in the wind.

I went there once and got an asada taco. Perfectly serviceable but not a must.

I had the regular tacos and quesotacos as well, they were good, not great. However, the vampiro was amazing.

Nice! Really glad you enjoyed, I’m a big fan.

Haven’t been to the Anaheim location, though. Super nice family behind the truck. Though I will say the last couple times I’ve been, they’ve gotten a little more popular and Sergio has been in the kitchen less often and I’ve noticed a minor quality dip on the tortillas and the Asada specifically. (when I first went I thought the tacos were noticeably better than certain other Sonoran harina-and-Asada specialists in town… maybe less true now)

Those vampiros kick major ass though, especially the barbacoa - the smushy rich meat plays so well with the crunch of the crispy tortilla shell and cooked cheese.

Maybe we should all pitch-in and buy RFTs truck.

Seems like a good opportunity for a family to take over instead of a guy with some hired guns.
