Thanh Vi, which has been on the corner of Ord and Hill in Chinatown for something around 30 years is closed, a “For Lease” sign in the window. This follows the closure of Chiu Heng on Alpine after thirtysomething years, as well as Thanh Mi on Cesar Chavez and Broadway, also dating to the 1980s and torn down for the latest civic project going up. Back in the 1980s there were some complaints about the Vietmization of LA Chinatown. Is that era fading away?
